General Motors has announced that Brian Sweeney, currently US vice president of Buick-GMC Sales and Service, has been named US vice president of Chevrolet. Sweeney will take over from Don Johnson effective March 1 and will be in charge of Chevrolet sales, service and marketing in the United States.
The 46-year-old joined General Motors in 1990 and held a series of sales and service roles at GMC, Pontiac and GM Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing before being named vice president of Saab Cars USA in 2004 and US vice president of Buick-GMC Sales and Service in 2010.
Sweeney will be replaced at Buick-GMC by Duncan Aldred, 43, currently chairman and managing director of Vauxhall Motors and CEO of Opel Ireland.
“Chevrolet has some of the freshest products and dealerships in the industry, Buick is bringing new customers into the GM family and GMC is refreshing its entire portfolio over a two-year period,” said Steve Hill, GM vice president of US Sales and Service. “Brian and Duncan both have a broad understanding of sales and marketing and the right skills to help us delight our current customers and attract new ones.”
