We told you that BRD got financed to take new steps in the development of their RedShift electric motorcycle and that Marc and his team at BRD were readying nifty upgrades. One of the good things happening to the RedShift is a massive upgrade in the power storage area, making the bike lighter and you don't need us to tell you this is a good thing.
One and a half years after the program kicked off, the new battery pack brings in a solid 33% hike in performance. While the conventional batteries in the industry sport about 120Wh/kg TSL (Total System Level), the new packs deliver up to 150Wh/kg.

This basically means less weight for the same power storage level, and with 5 kWh batteries, this makes the RedShift 10.5 kg (23 lbs) lighter. At the same time, the smaller batteries allow better mass distribution, an optimized center of gravity, better ground clearance and enhanced ergonomics.

This is, however, only one of the upgraded BRD prepared for the RedShift launch in 2014. More on the matter as news surfaces.
