Brawn May Lose Driving License Due to Speeding

We know most of us are used to seeing young racing drivers being caught by the police speeding while outside their usual Formula One perimeter (read that racing track). However, the latest news coming from the UK seems to argue against that.

According to a report issued by British newspaper the Daily Mail, it seems team owner Ross Brawn could lose his drivers license over an incident that occurred in late May 2009. On the 30th of that month, the Manchester-born Brit was caught by the police doing 100 mph on a 70 mph speed zone on the A30.

According to the aforementioned source, Brawn's lawyers have already asked the British magistrates to adjourn their client's case until early September, as the Formula One boss is currently out of the country and supervising his team's operation prior to the European Grand Prix at Valencia (scheduled for August 23rd).

As the law states that all individuals who are doing more than 30 mph above the speed limit at a certain zone have to appear personally in front of a judge to plea their case, the 54-year old is expected to explain his actions before the magistrates in Plymouth, Devon, the weekend after the Valencia race.

According to the report from the police following the May 30 incident, Brawn was driving his powerful Mercedes when caught speeding in Sourton near Okehampton, Devon, heading towards Cornwall.
