Brammo Enertia, for Under $6,000 in California

The competition is getting tough on the zero-emission vehicles market. Electric motorcycle manufacturer Brammo announced yesterday its Enertia bike is priced at just $5,995 in California after federal and state incentives, just two weeks after Zero Motorcycles praised the fact their Zero S and DS motorcycles will be available for $7,495 in the same state.

The California Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP) received $4.1 million from the ARB's Air Quality Improvement Program to promote the use and production of zero-emission vehicles.

“We admire the California Legislature, Governor Schwarzenegger, and the hard working civil servants at the Air Resources Board for their leadership in making this program available," said Brammo Founder and CEO Craig Bramscher. "The Enertia has been available in select California Best Buy stores since 2009, and we are already experiencing increased sales demand thanks to this rebate."

The Brammo Enertia is a 100 percent fully-electric motorcycle built in Ashland, Oregon, and it is currently on sale in the US at $7,995. The bike has a top speed of over 60 miles per hour (95 km/h), a range of 42 miles (68 kilometers) and a charging time of about 4 hours by plugging into a standard wall outlet. According to its manufacturer, all this while using less than a dollar in electricity per 100 miles ridden.

Recently, Brammo also revealed it has signed a partnership with JCAM Advanced Mobility Company, co-founded by action movie superstar Jackie Chan, a deal that will have JCAM sell the Brammo electric motorcycle product line in Hong Kong and Singapore beginning early to mid-2010.
