Bottoms Up: 69 Year Old Czech Driver Flips Ferrari 599 GTO

We have to admit that it pains us to bring you news of exclusive rare and remarkable cars getting a rough treatment, but it’s better to keep track of these things if we are to encourage people to drive a bit more carefully on public roads, and especially in wet conditions.

The latest bit of automotive carnage that autoevolution brings you comes from the Czech Republic, where a 69 year old drive has “managed” to thoroughly destroy his beautiful Ferrari 599 GTO.

We don’t really know why such an elderly gentlemen (we’re sorry sir, but you have to admit it) need an exotic supercar that packs a race-tuned V12 engine. Maybe the Maranello marvel is the only thing that gets his blood going, or maybe he just love the carbon fiber bits, but at 69, he was around when Ferraris didn’t have flappy paddles, manetinos and sometimes roofs.

According to IDNES.cz, the driver the wet road and excessive speed were also to blame. The end result: the car slid and ended up on its roof in a ditch next to the D11 highway.

“The driver did not conform to the conditions of the road. The vehicle skidded, became uncontrollable and ended up in the grassy ditch next to the highway,”
Police spokeswoman Ivana Jezkova said.

The driver is reportedly not hurt, but we can’t really say the same for the lovely 599 GTO. The extensive damage covers every panel on the car, except maybe the underside. There’s not even a hood on the beast, as it appears to have been ripped off in the accident.

R.I.P 599 GTO from the Czech Republic!
