Bosch Announces Universal Fuel Injection Systems

One of the leading names in the fuel injection industry, Bosch announces the imminent introduction of an universal injection system which can be retrofitted on carbureted motorcycles. While this sounds a bit far-fetched, Bosch claims that fitting these EFI systems will indeed fit both low-end, small-displacement, single-cylinder bikes and high-end engines, as well.
So far, the biggest issue when it came to choosing a budget bike was the price, as equipping an EFI system meant a significant hike in the final cost of the two-wheeler. The new Bosch system is however, supposed to be offered at a very competitive price, similar to that of carbureted ones. The biggest leap forward, says Bosch, was the ability to develop a competitive fuel injection software which no longer needed to rely on an array of expensive sensors, helping keep the costs down.

Even more, the German component manufacturer adds that the new EFI systems could come with smartphone integration, providing comprehensive data on fuel consumption and more, possibly offering a remote immobilizer function, which would make the bike completely unusable, if stolen.

Bosch did not provide further details on the availability of this system, but since the word got out, we can safely presume that the launch of the universal fuel injection system is not such a distant future thing. Could it be a 3D printed system, maybe?
