The current Z4 might not be BMW’s best work to date, the automaker really has got a couple of big problems. They’re called the new Mercedes SLK 350 and the 981 generation of Porsche Boxster, which is going to be a performance benchmark on the track by the looks of things.
So, what has BMW done recently to make the Z4 better - a new engine, gearbox or M Package? No, they haven’t, it’s a couple of color options for the roof. Oh dear.
Starting in July, the BMW Z4 convertible couple will be available with either a black or a silver roof. This is an offering from BMW Individual that’s meant to contrast with the rest of the bodywork.
If you want, you can probably match the black non-metallic with white or brightly colored body for a sporting look, or combine the silver with a maroon color for that classic elegance.
Editor’s note: BMW Individual will charge you and arm and a leg for a black roof, which everybody from Mazda to Honda has on offer. We’d much rather have a brand new carbon fiber roof for €2,000 instead of paying the same amount for paint.
