With the new Vision Future Luxury Concept revealed in Beijing, the rumor mill started turning once again, churning out a couple of new, interesting ideas. Some sources, however, are more trustworthy than others.
In the past we could always count on insider Scott26 to let us in a couple of undisclosed details before they were made official by BMW themselves. This is also one of those times.

Speaking about what this concept means to the BMW world on a forum post, the man might’ve said a bit more than he was supposed to, claiming that there will definitely be a 9 Series coming out and that the upcoming X7 will also share bits and pieces seen on the Vision Future Luxury concept.

Apart from the interior details, the X7 will also feature the big kidney grilles up front that will match the bigger body of the upcoming luxury SUV. On the 9 Series they will be replaced with a different design.

Speaking of the 9er, the car will be positioned above the 7 Series just like we speculated. It will be rivaling the biggest S-Class out there but it won’t be an elongated model but rather a standalone one with its own identity (as the naming scheme suggests).

This way, BMW will be closing the gap it currently has between its 7er and the Rolls-Royce brand, the price difference between the 9 Series and the current flagship being quite generous.

All the best tech BMW has to offer will be used on both the X7 and the 9 Series, from the new OLED and Laser Lights to the materials used inside that will be part of the Individual range.

At the same time, the 9 Series will be the incarnation of the 2007 CS Concept Car and it will be rivaling Bentley as Rolls-Royce is one step above the Volkswagen-owned brand at the moment. While luxury is the main word to use here, the car could also appeal to the more sensible side of rich folks.

Apparently, BMW might introduce either hydrogen power technology on this model for the first time or a very powerful eDrive hybrid model, using a 6-cylinder petrol unit and an electric motor that would generate 400 HP altogether. While ‘Hydrogen 9’ sounds enticing enough whether we’ll see it come to life depends on the BMW collaboration with Toyota.
