BMW will introduce its Performance Accessories range for the X6 model on the North American market.
The "go-fast" parts will become available in late October. The list of modifications/additions includes a power kit, a styling pack, new rims and a flat-bottomed steering wheel.
BMW will offer a power upgrade for the xDrive35i and xDrive50i model built between 2008 and 2010, with the extra horses and Nm offered via an ECU remap. The automotive producer is also working on a high performance exhaust for the two models, with this part expected to be released this winter.
The first model sees its output increased from 300 to 320 hp and from 300 to 332 lb-ft of torque (407 to 450 Nm), while the second goes from 400 to 440 hp and from 450 to 480 lb-ft of torque (610 to 651 Nm). The power and torque premium cuts 0.2 of a second off both models’ 0 to 62 mph sprint time (6.3 seconds for the xDrive35i and 5.0 seconds for the xDrive50i). In addition to that, the overtaking acceleration (50 to 75 mph or 80 to 120 km/h) has also been enhanced by half a second.
The exterior kit for the X6 includes modified front and rear aprons, new side skirts, a rear bumper insert with optional fins, as well as a rear window spoiler. As for the new rims, these come in a 21-inch size and use 285/35 tires for the front axle and 325/30 tires for the rear one. The aerodynamic kit and the rims can be ordered for the entire X6 range, excepting the X6 M and the ActiveHybrid X6 models.
