The fastest car you can get from BMW with the X4 badge on it is the xDrive35d model. That’s right, a diesel is the fastest model in the entire range, but this is not a solitary example either.
Another one is the 3 Series range, where the 335d used to be the fastest version in the range up until the 340i came out this year. The differences are small, but it is an interesting thing to note that diesels are not only comparable with petrol model right now, but they can actually go faster.

And while we’re patiently waiting for an M Performance model to come out under the X4 colors, we have to get by with what we have. Rumors have been claiming that an M40i model will come out eventually, but no officials hurried up to confirm anything.

The M Performance model should use the same plant as the M2, which is a revised and upgraded version of the most-popular N55 3-liter inline 6-cylinder unit. Making around 370 HP and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque, the new X4 should be great fun to drive even on a proper track.

Leaving all that behind, in the real, today world, tuners have been getting similar amounts of power out of standard cars with ease. And yes, we’re also talking about diesels.

Alpina, for example, has the XD3 Biturbo on offer today that benefits from 350 HP and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. If you want more, Mcchip DKR has apparently reached even higher, posting an unbelievable 369 HP and 710 Nm (524 lb-ft) of torque from the engine block of a standard xDrive35d.

The biturbo setup of the 3-liter engine should make sure turbo lag is as low as possible while fuel efficiency and reliability shouldn’t be affected according to the tuner.

To top everything off, the car in the pictures was also dressed to impress with all the M Performance parts available for the X4 being thrown into the mix as well as the new quad-tailpipe exhaust.
