With rumors about a possible BMW X2 pilling up these days, the renderers out there are finding themselves quite busy. X-Tomi Design just put together a rendering of how the upcoming coupe-shaped model based on the X1 will look like and it’s almost dead on.
How can we tell? Well, all you have to do is take a look at the BMW range these days. Take a look at the X3 and X4 for example. The two look exactly the same from the front, up to the B-pillar. The front fascia is the same, the front doors are the same, even the underpinnings are the same.

The same thing could be said about the new X5 and X6, even though it wouldn’t be as true. The thing is, going further up in the range, the difference start to be a bit more evident, these two models being the perfect example.

Either way, chances are BMW will not make an exception for the sake of the X2, especially since this is supposed to carry a price tag close to X1’s and that would place it somewhere near the $30,000 limit. That won’t allow the Germans to invest too much in the new car.

Therefore, some things will be recycled, no matter how the rear end will turn out. The renderer apparently decided to go with a 5-door layout, but we’re rather reluctant towards this approach. Sure, there are more chances of it coming out in this guise than in our suggested 3-door version but thinking about how crowded the X4 was in the back... Things definitely don’t look good for the passengers inside the X2.

There are a couple of interesting things that need to be pointed out here too, such as the UKL platform is going to be used for the underpinnings. That means this car will be front-wheel drive and could save some space for the cabin, therefore making it usable for more than two people.

At this point though, it’s all just speculation and we’ll have to wait for BMW to come out with a concept to see exactly what they have in mind. Until then, let’s just enjoy the renderings.
