BMW and Mercedes have transformed the US into a bloody battlefield, where every unit sold matters and it is now time for the final battle of the past year. The moment when we find out who won the 2011 war should’ve arrived yesterday, when carmakers released their US sales figures for the past year, but neither of the automotive producer sent any info.
However, it seems that the Bavarians are the winners, as Autodata (via The Wall Street Journal) says that BMW managed to sell a total of 248,073 units, while Mercedes sold 2,804 less units on the US market in 2011. This should be the end of the story, but Mercedes will certainly fight back in 2012 - while we know what new metal is coming towards us this year, we can expect both carmakers to come up with impressive marketing moves, so prepare yourself for some fierce battles.
