The last few years have seen BMW making efforts to reinvent the class, with the automaker introducing new crossbreed creatures that are aimed at convincing customers that there’s more to its cars than meets the eye.
The result of this philosophy can bee seen in vehicles such as the X6 and the 5 Series Gran Turismo. These creatures come to offer a cocktail that uses crossover, station wagon and coupe ingredients.
Even though these drinks might not seem attractive at first glance, they can provide quite a high level of... many things, once you take a good sip. Various media sources have already indicated that the Bavarians are working on a GT version of the 3 Series, so it is clear that the company is willing to venture further into the multi-purpose woods.
However, it seems that BMW is really serious about the GT badge. According to German Car Forum, the automotive producer is working on a 1 Series GT, with the vehicle being pictured above - the image comes from an unknown British magazine.
It is almost certain that the car will use the front axle to send the power to the road, as previous reports indicate that BMW is planning to use this solution for its entry-level vehicles in order to maximize interior space. However, the vehicle could also be offered with an optional all-wheel-drive system.
We have to mention that to evaluate this kind of car you have to get behind its wheel, so it will take a while before we can say anything about the potential new development.
