Another excellent year debut was reported by BMW Motorrad, the bike-manufacturing subsidiary of the legendary Bavarian car maker. Official figures presented today by BMW’s press outlet indicate a solid growth around 16% in the number of units sold.
And what’s even cooler is that both the monthly and the quarterly figures are on the same ascending trend. This means that maybe it’s time for BMW to stop whining about the recession. Worldwide, BMW Motorrad sold a total of 28,719 motorcycles and maxi scooters in the first three months of 2014, an increase of 16.1% over the 24,732 units sold in the same quarter of the previous year.

As for the month of March, this year was the most lucrative one ever, Heiner Faust, BMW Motorrad Head of Sales and Marketing says: “What is more, last month was the most successful in the company's history with 15,183 vehicles sold and an increase of 16.2%. Never before have we sold as many vehicles in March." Last year, BMW sold 13,067 bikes and maxi scooters to customers in March.

BMW sales in Europe have also increased, but detailed information in expected in the future. The southern European markets have showed signs of becoming stronger, in anticipation of the summer, and they are also expected to keep demand at increasingly higher rates.

Among the individual national markets, Germany continues to dominate the sales charts, and is followed by the US, France, Italy, Brazil and Spain. Sales are expected to be even better for BMW Motorrad, as this year will also bring in the R1200GS Adventure and K1600GTL Exclusive bikes, backed by BMW’s first-ever electric scooter, the C evolution, whose production recently kicked off in Berlin.
