Last month, BMW confirmed that the carbon ceramic brake option for the new M5 and M6 has been postponed, with the goodies set to arrive next year. The beefy brakes were supposed to make their debut this month and... here we are, looking at a real-world photo of them. A Luxury4play forum user spotted this white M5 wearing the optional ceramic brakes in the US.
The official configurator of the M5 still doesn’t say anything about such an option, so we have to trust another user of the aforementioned forum, which claims that the car belongs to a BMW Driving Center. This would make sense, as we believe that the delay appeared due to the fact that BMW wanted to further test the hardware before releasing it on the market.
We’ll remind you that the ceramic brakes bring the rotors from 400 to 410 mm for the front axle (the rear discs stay the same) and come with a weight reduction of 42.8 lbs (19.4 kg).
