The Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake is still an extremely fresh release, but we might also have to make room for BMW in this niche-in-niche segment, as the Bavarians are rumored to be considering a 6-Series Gran Touring.
The story started back in 2010, when Dr. Klaus Draeger, head of BMW development, let it slip that the company had built a 6-Series Shooting Brake concept. BMW has released the 6-Series Coupe, Cabrio and Gran Coupe since then, but the concept was never shown.
The newer reports show that the 6-Series Gran Touring could arrive in 2014. The car would come with a slooping roofline and a new glasshouse design. The engine range would be borrowed from the other members of the 6-Series family, but there might even be an M version with 560 hp.
Until BMW decides if the project gets the green light or nor, we’re inviting you to take a look at the adjacent rendering, which gives us a pretty good idea of how the car should look.
