Just in case your Internet was out these past few days, let me tell you the new 2021 BMW 4 Series is out and, boy, didn't it split the public opinion in two like... I don't know, politics?
It all revolved around its new grille design, and given its planetesque size, it shouldn't come as a surprise. BMW decided to go for a waterfall design that covers the entire height of the snout, and despite the spy shots and leaked images, it seems not everyone was ready for it.

Since then, the Bavarian company came out and said not all future BMW models will follow this trend. It's unclear whether that was the plan from the beginning or it was just a jerk reaction, but the fact someone came out and said it tells you how big of a deal it is. Of course, I'm joking with the jerk reaction stuff - that's not how this industry works.

With all that information in mind, zer.o.wt began to imagine what a new version of the bigger and badder BMW M5 would look like, and came up with this. They went for the blacked-out grille solution which, admittedly, does look great on a performance vehicle, but heeded the advice from the BMW official and kept the horizontal layout of the kidney grille.

It has a more squarish shape than the current version and the lower air intakes borrow the black plastic blades from the new 440i xDrive for that aggressive look. The headlights also get a new outline and boomerang LED daytime running lights.

The rear is left almost untouched with the only obvious modification being the smoky taillights. Some rumors claim the new BMW M5 will have a 1,000 hp electric powertrain, and they come from credible sources, but given the current state of electrification of the Bavarian lineup, we find it very hard to believe BMW would be able to pull that in time or, indeed, would even consider something like that so soon.

If that were true, the next model would lose the tailpipes altogether, but since this is more of a facelift - and the EV prospect more of a fantasy - we'd say the CGI is accurate enough, if a bit lazy.
