BMW really had problems making people like the old sporty version of the 1-Series hatch. It was crammed and even though it had sportscar-like power levels, it lacked the charisma needed, not to mention it was a tad too expensive.
Now, with the arrival of the F20 generation of 1-Series, they are taking another crack at it. According to Driving-Fan, an M135i will arrive next year, and it promises to be as exciting at a hatch can be.
The information was revealed at a recent BMW dealership presentation that took place in Netherlands. There, the output of the car was revealed to be 320 horsepower. This comes from the same N54 twin-turbo straight-six 3.0-liter as the old 135i. But the fact the output was raised from 306 hp in the old one to 320 hp indicates what sort of power boost we can expect elsewhere.
Expect a wider track, stiffer suspension and a focused body kit to be introduced as part of the M treatment.
