Although we haven’t heard about it in a long time, and rumors have proven just that, BMW might not give up on the idea of building a supercar. But of course, the formula will be much different from the time of the original M1.
The M1 was the car that changed history. After it, BMW launched the M5 with the same 3.5-liter straight-six, followed by the M3, with a 2.3-liter straight-four. Since then, just about every car BMW makes has had some sort of M or M-badged version.

But there has never been a successor to the original M1, of which only 456 were built. A successor is indeed in the works, but this halo car will actually be called the M8 and will be faster and more expensive than everything else they sell.

Automobile Mag
reports the car might arrive sharing a platform with the i8 hybrid, and powered by a V8 producing about 600 horsepower.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
