The launch of the new 2 Series Convertible model brought along a couple of new features for the Coupe as well. The biggest change will be the introduction of the new B47 diesel engine that is set to replace the current N47 unit used on the 220d.
Just like in the case of the X3 LCI and X4 before it, as well as the 520d, the new car will be taking advantage of all the new tech imbued in this unit. Making 190 HP and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, this will be one of the most fuel efficient and eco-friendly cars BMW makes under the 2 Series name.

Thanks to the revised 8-speed automatic transmission, the car will reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 7 seconds and emit only 99 grams of CO2 into the atmosphere for each kilometer it runs. Furthermore, the fuel consumption is rated between 4.1 and 3.8 l/100 km (61.8 to 57.3 mpg).

A new 6-speed manual transmission will also be introduced, featuring better specs and a rev-matching feature. However, when configured with it, the 220d will be slower to 100 km/h (62 mph) by 0.1 seconds, emit between 107 and 115 grams of CO2 per km and eat up a little more fuel, the estimates being around 4.4 to 4.1 l/100 km (57.3 to 53.5 mpg).
