The new cars from BMW's line-up, like the LCI 7 Series and the LCI F10 5 Series, received the brand new iDrive system that now has a touch feature.
That means that the iDrive controller will now recognize your movements due to a touchpad. This new way to provide input to iDrive is simple to use and allows you to access new features.
Such new features include writing out the letters with your finger, instead of searching for them in the menu. However, that's not the only new thing about the iDrive touch controller.
For example, just as in smartphones, you can now use pinch to zoom using the controller, whilst in navigation maps, for example. You can also scroll through the map using only one finger.
The internet browser also uses these features, where you can use the touchpad just like you do on your laptop, making for seamless internet usage.
