The fact that the i3 won the Sunday Times' Top 100 Car's Electric and Hybrid Car category wasn't enough for BMW UK. They also announced that the i8 will be priced at GBP99,845 next year, when it goes on sale.
The price is OTR (on the road) and that means it includes the price of the vehicle with the first registration fee and the tax for the first year. It might be a bit steep but the advantages far outweigh the price.
This is BMW's first hybrid plug-in sports car and it's providing unbelievable performances. The car weighs under 1,500 kg (3,300 lbs), it's fitted with an electric motor that has 2 speeds and makes 131 HP and a 3-cylinder 1.5-liter unit that makes 231 HP and 320 Nm of torque.
With these two, the car reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds and returns a fuel consumption of 2.5 l/100 km (113 mpg imp and 94 mpg US). Quite tempting, right?
