The i8 is an impressive tool. Is it better than a traditional Porsche 911 on the track? Maybe not but it’s definitely something different, something that shows just how much you can achieve with so little.
The car is basically a plug-in hybrid if you will. Therefore, some might actually compare it to the Toyota Prius, but only from certain points of view.
For example, the i8 has an even smaller internal combustion engine, a 3-cylinder 1.5-liter unit but it makes so much more power (231 HP vs. 134 HP). The performance is quite different as well, the i8 being over twice as fast as the Prius but on the other hand it won’t be as efficient as the Japanese car.
It’s not trying to either. What BMW wanted to prove with the i8 was that you can have a lot of fun and performance with a car using a small engine without having to pay a million for it but just a fraction.
The guys from Vossen wheels got not one but two of them together in an ad-hoc shoot to advertise their products. Of course, we’re talking about the wheels here, as they are the company’s specialty.
The black BMW i8 is fitted with 22x9 and 22x10.5 inch custom lightweight Vossen Forged VPS-301 wheels in a matte clear finish that fits the ride perfectly.
On the other hand, we have the Crystal White BMW i8 that rides on one of a kind Vossen wheels dressed in matte red. His ride is also lowered on H&R springs and had all of its i blue accent pieces redone in black.
The result is a dynamic duo that shut down the Port of Miami for this video to be shot. Needless to say it deserves our attention especially when drifting is involved, done by hybrid cars!
