As we reported a while back, the i3 started making its way into dealerships worldwide this week. One of the first to receive it was the Sytner Harold Wood dealership in Rolford, UK and we're guessing that's where the guys from Autocar got it from to take it for a test drive.
During their time using the i3 around towns, even they had to admit it kind-of does exactly what it was meant to. The autonomy on a daily commute is more than enough, with 100 miles (160 km) of range, whilst the charging time is decent, considering most people will do, at most, 30 miles (48 km) a day.
The interior feels brand new and welcoming and has all the best materials one can hope for. Thanks to the coach doors and the lack of a B-Pillar, access to the back is relatively ok, even though it could be better.
On the performance side, the i3 is no slouch. Its 170 HP and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque make sure the 1.2 tone car can reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.2 seconds, quite on par with nice hatchbacks.
The plethora of apps available for this car alongside the most advanced navigation system on the market make this model a trailblazer, worthy of you attention if you're interested in a green, Mega City Vehicle for you and your family.
The tweaks the engineers did (like the steering and tight turning circle) for proper city use will definitely come in handy, whilst the price reduction the Government offers will make the first premium EV look very attractive.
