The revised 5 Series is being marketed by BMW as the most advanced 5er ever made and you'd have a pretty hard time trying to say otherwise. It's only natural that as time goes by so does technology.
But technology alone isn't enough, it also has to be affordable and that's where most of the problems rely. That's a whole different discussion though and we're here to let the Australians know that the new model will be changing its price tags on their continent and will be starting at AUD79,900 from now on.

So, what does that amount of money bring you? A 184 HP and 270 Nm (200 lb-ft) of torque 2-liter petrol engine fitted on a 5 Series wearing the 520i badge at the back and decked with complementary bi-xenon headlamps, LED fog lights, cruise control with braking function, rear-view camera and parking sensors.

Inside, the base 520i will include electric front seats, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, a 12-speaker audio system, the Professional Navigation System, internet connection and the iDrive touch controller, of course.

The same price goes for the diesel version that has the same power figure but more torque (rated at 380 Nm). For Touring versions, you'll have to add AUD2,500 to the price tag.

Other variants go for as far as AUD159,900 according to the manufacturer's list prices as you can see in the list below:
  • 528i sedan – $97,400
  • 535i sedan – $116,900
  • ActiveHybrid 5 sedan – $119,900
  • 535d sedan – $121,900
  • 550i sedan – $159,900
  • 520d Touring – $90,900
  • 535i Touring – $122,900
  • 520d Gran Turismo – $93,900
  • 530d Gran Turismo – $108,900
  • 535i Gran Turismo – $117,900
