The BMW F10 5 Series LCI received a lot of technical improvements and a lot of new features, amongst them being the so-called BMW Driver Assistance pack that includes the Collision Warning system.
But what does it do? Whenever you want to change lanes on a highway or overtake a car, it will give you a visual warning on the head-up display and the instrument cluster, telling you that there is an obstacle in your way, in case you missed it. That visual warning is joined by an audible one.
The system can also be customized, allowing you to change the distance at which it is activated. Therefore, in case you like to drive dangerously, you can set it to warn you in really close quarters.
The video below will show you how to set the distance on a 7 Series model. However, the procedure is similar in an LCI F10 5 Series and any other model fitted with this system. Enjoy!
