This weekend, at Oschersleben, the 8th race of the 2013 DTM Championship will take place, featuring all 8 BMW DTM Drivers. On the way to the main event, the guys stopped at the BMW Leipzig factory to take a look at the i3 and i8 and even drive the latter.
First they had an autograph signing session for the employees that proved to be very excited to meet the DTM representatives of BMW. After that a guided tour introduced them to the Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic manufacturing and assembly process.
At the end of the tour, they also had the chance to take the i8 for a tour around the test track and see what all the fuss is about with this plug-in hybrid sports car. The reactions were positive, which is quite impressive, considering what monstrous cars the guys are driving on a regular basis.
“It was exciting and interesting to drive this car. I was very impressed by the performance and acceleration. The electric and combustion engines work together perfectly. The technology used in the BMW i models is certainly ahead of its time. BMW has once again emphatically demonstrated its innovative prowess,” said Timo Glock after his test drive.
