Joey Hand joined the BMW DTM efforts in late 2011, coming on from various wins in worldwide competitions. The most notable successes he recorded were the 2011 24 Hours of Daytona win for Chip Ganassi Racing, champion of the Star Mazda Series and winner of the 2012 12 Hours of Sebring in the GT class.
However, Joey is not just a racing driver, he is also a family man. He loves his wife and kids and every moment away from them feels like an eternity. He leaves though, only to win, that's the only reason he leaves his home.

Just as he said in the driver profile BMW put together, every time he sets out on the track, he only wants to win. Born in 1979 in Sacramento, California, racing was a part of his life since he was 2, when his dad used to take him to the local track.

At age 11 he started his endeavor in racing and now, 23 years later he's still doing what he loves, at a top level for BMW Team RBM. Even though the first results of the year were not the best they could possibly reach, things are looking up.

PS: Joey Hand, a BMW DTM Driver, uses a diesel as an every day car, a BMW M550d Touring. How about that…
