BMW Canadian Olympic Ad Talks about Powering Performance

By now, everyone knows that BMW is the official partner of Team USA at the 2014 Sochi Olympics but fewer people knew that a similar partnership was signed with the Canadian team before the event began.
However, the Bavarians didn’t keep it secret and even created a couple of really impressive spots of their favorite athletes from the North American country practicing their specialty on various tracks.

Looking at the end result you might think that it wasn’t all that hard to put all these things together. A couple of CGI some tweaks here and there and it’s done, right? Wrong.

According to the behind the scenes video (also posted below) for a 16 second spot there was titanic work involved including 200 hours of rotoscoping, 150 hours of background painting, 50 renditions of blue energy and 500 hours of compositing.

In the end, a brilliant compilation emerged that looks absolutely brilliant.
