BMW, Big Winner at the Engine of the Year Awards

It's been a great week for German manufacturer BMW, at least when it comes to the image it has. After earlier in the week the car maker was one of the preferred recipients of the Plus X awards, BMW has done it again, this time during the International Engine of the Year Awards.

Just as was the case during the Plus X awards, BMW snatches four titles here as well. The work the manufacturer has done over the past year has been acknowledged by the jury of 65 car journalists from 32 countries with honors for its four, six and eight-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, who snatched the win in their respective categories (meaning that BMW won a title in half of all the classes of the Awards).

The winning engines are the V8 unit fitted on the BMW M3, the straight six-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, the new four-cylinder power unit under the bonnet of the MINI Cooper S and the four-cylinder diesel with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology.

“The success in four of the eight capacity classes in the world’s most renowned engine competition underscores yet again the BMW Group’s outstanding expertise in the field of engine development. Thanks to Efficient Dynamics there is a choice of exceptionally powerful and at the same time remarkably efficient engines available for all models of the BMW and MINI brands,” said BMW.

For years now, BMW is the one to beat during the Engine of the Year Awards. In a little over ten years, the manufacturer won 50 class and overall victories in the awards, making it one of the most prolific out there.
