It’s been quite a while since we covered a Vossen video but, truth be told, they didn’t show us any more BMW magic of lately. Could something’ve gone wrong with their usual collaboration? Not likely...
The guys are back though and we’re more than happy to watch their work. The latest video posted by Vossen on Youtube shows a BMW 428i wearing a shiny set of wheels known as Vossen CV5, for all of you out there interested in them for your own rides. They measure 20x9 inches up front and 20x10.5 inches at the back, showcasing a matte graphite machined look that works great to show off those blue M Sport calipers behind them.
Being a Bimmerfest 2014 Platinum Member, the guys had plenty of cars to choose from to shoot their new clip. Somehow they went for this 428i, why is that?
Well, a couple of explanations immediately pop up in our heads. While for some people performance is everything, others find comfort and pleasure in knowing that their car is simply beautiful.
In this regard, the 428i is perfect. It doesn’t have the 435i’s 3-liter inline 6-cylinder turbo engine but it does have a potent 2-liter I4 unit making 245 HP and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, numbers just shy of the 306 HP and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of the range topping model.
Furthermore, you get no sense of turbo lag whatsoever and it’s quite cheaper to purchase as well. We noticed just how capable that engine is on a Convertible model, earlier this year and we were impressed, especially considering the added weight of the retracting roof.
In the end, we’re guessing it’s just a matter of choice but whatever the reason, this owner made a good decision both when he picked the car and the wheels.
