BMW 318i Sleeper With Old M5 Engine

In 1982, BMW replaced the E21 with the E30 series. Those were very different times for the 3-Series, which really was small and light compared to today’s car. As a result you could have the car with as little as 90 horsepower.
This coupe used to be the second least powerful version, the 318i, which came with a 104 horsepower 1.8-liter petrol lump at the time. 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) took 11.2 seconds and the top speed was 183 km/h (114 mph). That’s just awful!

So what the owner of this car did was to take out the old 1.8-liter garbage and fit in a 6-cylinder from an old M5, slap on some turbos, racing slicks and voila: the craziest sleeper you’ve seen in a while. It manages to do the quarter mile in the 11s, which is respectable for such a car.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
