Bentley has been contemplating the idea of building an SUV for quite a while and now that the company has reported a hefty increase for its 2011 sales, the move seems to be closer and closer.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the sales boost registered by the automotive producer last year (the company registered an increase on all markets) brought Bentley back to profit after two years of being below the line.
Bentley wants its SUV to be a “creme de la creme” development, which means that, if the vehicle does get the green light everyone expects, it will come with a hefty price tag, with the aforementioned source mentioning an US market price of over $140,000 (for the sake of converting we’ll tell you that, at the current exchange rates, this is close to EUR107,000).
Since Bentley is part of the VW Group, it can rely on a lot of experience with four-wheel-drive, so the company has an important part of the tech side it needs to build such a car.
