Packing a 6l, twin-turbocharged W12 engine with an output rating of 630 horsepower, the clean-cut convertible can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.9 seconds, while on route to its top speed of 202 mph (325 km/h).
The engine is fitted with the FlexFuel technology that allows it to run on petrol, E85 bioethanol or any mix of the two fuels.
The engine is paired with a revised ZF 6HP26 transmission with Quickshift system, a feature which helps cut shift times to half. The car has an increased rear track (by 50 mm) for improved grip and stability, standard-fit carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon fiber front sport seats, and 20-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels.
The car wears a price tag of $280,400 (EUR226,457) and will be launched later this fall.
According to Bentley, the launch of the Continental Supersports Convertible comes one year after the release of the Supersports coupe because an internal study showed Bentley owners usually spend in between 12 to 18 months with their cars, before going for a new one. Until now, Bentley rolled out a new vehicle every eight months.
"The Supersports Convertible and Coupé are the ultimate driver's Bentleys and that is reflected in unique design cues that provide a bold, sporting look, from whatever angle the cars are admired. Even from 50 metres behind on a dark road, you can just tell it's a Supersports," says Raul Pires, Bentley head of Exterior Design.
