We're tackling a desert road well tucked inside the cow hides of a Bentley Continental GT V8. Despite the sun's struggle to kill us each time we make a five-minute stop, we're having a blast.
We decided to shut down the navigation and see if the V8 is good enough to entertain us on whatever roads we encounter, so, naturally, it doesn't take long before the pillow-like highway cruising abilities of this Grand Tourer become necessary but not sufficient.
Nature is still deceiving - we see some sort of canyons not too far away, but the road ends in front of us, so we have to hit the sand if we want to get there.
Changing the suspension firmness in the Continental GT is a bit annoying, since you have to use both the button on the console and the touch screen, but the result is more than rewarding.
There's nothing like the mid-punch snarl of Bentley's new V8 coming inside the cabin as the dust raises in our trail. The Naim audio system is probably envious, because, unlike in the Continental GT W12, we've turned it off in order to get down and dirty with the petrol monster in front of us. Can you believe they're calling this fun-loving engine a member of the downsizing cast?
Having eight forward gears may seem a bit too much on these roads, but it only brings elegance to mind when you're pulling away in seventh with only mother nature under the wheels.
