Bentley Bentayga GT3-R Makes You Wonder About an SUV Racing Series

The Bentley Bentayga is finally here, an ultra-luxury 4x4 that claims to be the fastest in the world. Thanks to its all-new 6-liter W12 engine, it is capable of reaching 100 km/h in only 4 seconds, the same as the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. However, it has a higher top speed.
Mercedes could technically build something that’s just as fast by using AMG's V12. However, since that won’t happen any time soon, the Bentayga is the king of its hill. Don’t underestimate this SUV, because being the best here means it’s like the LaFerrari of 4x4s.

Compared to Rolls-Royce, Bentley has always had an affinity for setting a fast pace. Thankfully, that tradition has been kept alive by different versions of the Continental GT, some of which have set world records, and a motorsport affiliation.

What if the Speed badge (or even the GT3 one) were to find their way onto the Bentayga’s boot? Sure, there’s the little detail of Porsche owning the GT3 name for road cars, but racing is also an option.

Would a weird race between 2-ton goliaths make the people that spent $200,000 on an SUV happy? We think it would do that and more. Stranger things have happened in the world of motorsport, such as truck racing, tractor racing and that thing they have in the Middle East where they rush up a sandy hill.

Taking a large off-roader and making it handle like a 911 is not stupid. Doing the impossible is what engineering is all about. We think it would be really fun to see the Audi Q7, BMW X5, Bentayga and Cayenne all playing to win on a rallycross circuit.

All these ideas came flooding through after we saw the rendering above, made by Hungarian X-Tomi design. One more crazy thought for the road? How about this: if the BMW M3 can get over 400 hp from a 3-liter engine, the W12 might push 800 hp… if it had more turbos.
