Bang & Olufsen BeoSound AMG for the Mercedes S-Klasse

The Bang & Olufsen BeoSound AMG high-end sound system will be available in the complete Mercedes Benz S-Klasse engine line-up starting September 2010, the Danish company announced. This includes the V6 gas and diesel engines, the hybrid and the powerful V8 and V12 versions.

According to the manufacturer, the BeoSound AMG system is standard equipment in the S65 AMG.

The white LED light of the four tweeter units in the mirror triangle as well as in the B-pillar is adjusted to match the color from the instrument panel. It automatically switches to day or night mode based on the ambient light, which is detected by a sensor in the rear view mirror. On system start-up the light smoothly fades in to the required level.

Besides 15 high performance speakers, the BeoSound AMG high-end sound system includes a total amplifier power of 1.200 Watts. Particularly the system consists of a 3-way speaker system in the front doors to enable optimal sound radiation for driver and front seat passengers.

The midwoofers in the rear doors as well as the tweeters in the B-pillar together with two midrange speakers and two powerful subwoofers in the parcel shelf ensure a superior sound chamber for the passengers in the back.

“Bang & Olufsen is very proud to enhance the driving experience of the S-Class with a sound experience pleasing both the ears and the eyes. This product-introduction is a logical step in our continued journey related to bringing audiophile sound into the luxury environment of Mercedes cars,” Jens Peter Zinck, Managing Director Bang & Olufsen Automotive, said in a release.

Bang & Olufsen Automotive is currently working on more sound systems for upcoming Mercedes-Benz cars, and are expected to be launched during 2012.
