The Nurburgring Nordschleife has steadily built a name for itself as one of the most unforgiving tracks in the world. Most major automakers who want to be taken seriously must put their sportscars to the test there and set some sort of blistering time.
It's said that 10 miles of racing at the Nordschleife is equivalent to 1 mile of driving in the real world. The infamous Karussell is part of the reason why. Despite being one of the slowest corners on the whole track, it's also one of the most demanding, subjecting cars to incredible forces.
The entrance to the corner is blind, and the concrete surface is hard and uneven. Not all cars can cope with it. This video shot by Bridge to Gantry shows how the mighty Lamborghini Aventador copes. It scrapes its underbody and clips the nose a bit, but manages to storm the corner and keep his speed up. The vide also shows an F12 Berlinetta being gingerly driven over the side of the Karussell with the hazards on.
You know what they say: there's no winners on track days, just repair bills. And this Ferrari owner didn't want to have to fix his precious Maranello marvel.
