We Thrash the New Corvette C7 Around the Ring in GT5

We were really eager to get our hands on the heavily-camouflaged virtual version of the all-new Chevrolet Corvette C7, which is now available as downloadable content for Sony’s Gran Turismo 5. We decided that the best place to try it out would be the Nurburgring Nordschleife, and that’s exactly what we did.
After failing to take the first corner properly, we soon entered a rhythm with the new Vette, which handles pretty well, in its virtual form, that is. However, sudden direction changes still stifle it, and it tends to understeer if you are not careful in some corners.

The overall handling was nevertheless good, and we were able to drift it around some of the corners - we even tried it around the Karussell, yet that failed so badly, we had to edit out the footage. The new 6.2-liter V8 engine, which was rated at 446 hp ingame pulled strongly from low revs, all the way up to the red line, yet there was no doubt that the car was powered by a rather lazy V8.

Another odd aspect we noticed was the length of the car’s sixth gear, which was not used at all, even on the ‘Ring’s long straight. We were not able to do a complete clean lap, so the time we recorded is not really relevant, as we chose a brutal rather than clean driving style. Check out the full video below.
