autoevolution Users Choose Alfa Giulietta the 2011 Car of the Year

The jury has chosen the Nissan Leaf as the 2011 Car of the Year but, as it usually happens with this type of "contests", their opinion doesn't match ours. Back in early November when the competition selected its seven finalists, we asked you: which of the models still in the race would you choose as winner of the grand prize?

Of course, opinions were different and we received a lot of votes, many of which were pointing to, unsurprisingly, Alfa Romeo Giulietta. No less than 26 percent of our visitors think that Giulietta should be named the 2011 Car of the Year while 21 percent of you voted Dacia's first-ever SUV Duster as the grand winner. Unfortunately, the jury placed the Duster on the last position with 132 points.

The third in our poll was Volvo's new S60 and V60 range with 14 percent, while Nissan Leaf, the big winner of this year's award, came fourth with 12 percent. The top seven was completed by Ford C-Max and Grand C-Max, Citroen C3 and DS3 and Opel Meriva with 9 percent, 8 percent and 6 percent, respectively.

In reality however, Nissan Leaf won the first place with 257 points, followed by Alfa Romeo Giulietta with a score of 248 points, while Opel Meriva came third with 244 points. Ford C-Max and Grand C-Max received 224 points and reached the fourth place, followed by Citroen C3 and DS3 with 175 points, Volvo S60 and V60 with 145 points and Dacia Duster with 132 points.
