As young car enthusiasts, some of you reading this might have had pedal cars or one of those late plasticky electric 4x4s. Others just had to wait until they could actually drive a real car, legally, or have someone build something cooler you could drive.
If you had a dad that knew his way with the spanners and a welder, you might have had a custom motorized miniature car and make every kid on the block jealous.

Billy Beckett from Australia is one of those kids. His dad Quentin, who works as a skilled welder designing machinery for collecting scrap metal, just built his son a miniature Toyota Land Cruiser pickup truck (or ute, how they call it) from scratch.

The starting point was a go cart, which got transformed to accommodate a higher suspension, beefier wheels and a metal shell which looks almost exactly as the real thing, only at a smaller scale.

Concerned about his son might damage the bodywork, Quentin also added a huge bull-bar at the front as well as side protection bars. Other options include fully upholstered seats, windows, a searchlight, snorkel and even a radio.

And that’s not all; as mentioned on Toyota Blog UK, Billy’s dad also made a miniature Thomas the Tank Engine for his boss’ son, that can be driven on both rails or pavement.

How lucky can you get? At Billy’s age I was overwhelmed with enthusiasm for a metal pedal car my parents bought. I can’t imagine what would have happened if they treated me with one of these.
