We found this little gem last year as it was being auctioned in October at Mecum’s. However, it seems the hardcore Toyota off-roader didn’t found a new owner as it recently popped out on Craigslist.
It seems people are a bit reserved in paying $55,000 on a 1986 Toyota pickup. However, we think this off-roader is a one-off and should get another chance.
This rather rare Toyota pickup isn’t powered by a diesel engine as you might expect, but a 4-cylinder CT-20 turbocharged unit, which has been completely restored. The transfer case, turbocharger, differentials and 5-speed manual gearbox are also original and restored to excellent condition.
In fact, the whole car received this kind of treatment and since the car spent most of its life in Arizona, there should be no hidden rusty areas. The body has been painted in a Rosso Imola Lamborghini Red while the interior bears a deer-skin tan color.
For off-road capabilities, the truck has been lifted using a SuperLift kit and received a set of huge wheels and an identical spare. Only around 1,300 miles have been done with this car since its restoration, so it’s pretty much a show car if you will.
It also comes with the original instructions manual, full service and restoration documents, so all you need to do is check the original ad here and contact the owner. Maybe the only thing missing from this bad boy here is the bed-mounted roll bar with the classic extra lights.
