Audi’s Next TT to Go Back to Basics

Audi really made an impact with the style-orriented TT, back in 1998, when it was first launched. It may have been underpinned by a Golf Mk IV and a bit soft and not really sporty, but people liked it, and it was a real image and styling statement, which was made by one of the most conservative names in the business.
The current TT has lost some of the ‘bubbly’ charm of the original car, being more of an Audi, than perhaps we would have liked. Now, according to autocar.co.uk, Audi will be returning the TT to its roots, with the all-new model, which is set to debut in 2014, in coupe form, with the drop-top version following a year later. It will be more of a style statement than the current car, yet with this being Audi, we really don’t know what that means, exactly - a more function-orriented shape, which they will hopefully make to look good, in order to 'make an impact'.

As was the case with each TT, they will be using the latest and most advanced front-wheel drive platform they have, and in this case, it will be the MQB, which underpins cars such as the VW Golf, SEAT Leon and upcoming all-new Skoda Octavia.
