Audi’s UK division today announced that it is offering a new entry-level version for the new model year, introducing the 1.8-liter turbocharged TFSI petrol engine on the coupe version.
From now on, you’ll need at least GBP24,070 to own a new TT and for the money you’ll get 160 hp between 4,500 and 6,300 rpm, as well as a peak torque of 250 Nm between 1,500 and 4,500 rpm.
Customers can opt between the standard six-speed manual gearbox and the optional double-clutch S Tronic gearbox, with the car offering two equipment levels: Sport and S line.
The manual gearbox version needs 7.2 seconds to complete the 0 to 62 mph sprint and offers a top speed of 140 mph (225 km/h), while the S Tronic model deals with the first task in 7.1 seconds, while offering the same top speed. We have to mention that both are front-wheel-drive.
We’d really like the VW Group to explain how this (the acceleration time) was possible, since the TT is basically a reworked VW Golf and the 211 hp and 280 Nm Golf VI GTI needs the same time for the 0 to 62 mph sprint.
