In the short history of the Formula E racing series, Audi established itself as one of the heavyweights of the competition. The carmaker is, alongside Renault and DS Techeetah, one of the three winners of Formula E in its five seasons to date.
Having finished second in the 2018-2019 season that just ended, Audi is gearing up to face even fiercer competition in the coming races. The team seems to be fully confident abilities of its drivers, who will get behind the wheel of a refreshed racer.

Called e-tron FE06, the car sports mainly visual changes, wearing a bright orange livery that is interrupted here and there by exposed carbon fiber.

“Compliments to the design team at Audi,” said in a statement one of the team’s drivers, Daniel Abt.

“The fans are going to immediately recognize our car from the grandstands or on television. Each livery in the five seasons has had its own unique character, but the FE06 is my favorite. Now it’s up to the whole team to also make it a success.”

Like all other cars in the series, the FE06 uses a battery that can hold enough power to move the vehicle along city tracks for the duration of the race, but is fitted with the carmaker’s own motor, inverter, gearbox, rear suspension, and the software to run them all.

Alongside Abt, the next season will see Lucas di Grassi get behind the wheel of the second FE06 car. They will once again fight for both driver and team titles, but this time against a more significant number of competitors.

Next year’s competition is expected to be the fiercest to date, as Mercedes-Benz will be on the starting grid, as will be Porsche, complementing the existing roster.

The new Formula E racer from Audi will be on display next week in Frankfurt, at the local auto show. The next Formula E season starts on November 22 in Saudi Arabia.
