Are crossovers really as important as regular cars? They seem to be for Audi, as their Q range might eventually grow to eight models, just like their normal car range starts with the A1 and ends with the A8.
The big news today is that Audi has reportedly given the green light to the Q8, which will be a crossover with quattro performance and a coupe-ish body. It will sit above the next-gen Q7, offering all the luxury toys the Germans from Ingolstadt could possibly dream up.

British magazine CAR says the Q8 has already been shown to select Audi customers at clinics around the world and received great reviews. Response has been so good, that the automakers believes it can sell as many as 25,000 a year.

The Q8 will be built on a modular platform called the MLB, which will underpin both the upcoming replacement for the Q7 and the next Cayenne and Toureg. Thanks to liberal use of aluminum, the Q8 could be lighter by as much as 300 kg (661 lbs) than the current Q7.

However, even those lucky enough to have seen the Q8 at a clinic will have to wait until 2017 before they can buy it.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
