Last month, the single most important drag racing event was TX2K's 2024 edition – it took place at the historical Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas, 40 miles south of downtown Dallas. As always, it had just about everything for everyone.
Err, that is valid for the folks who live life a quarter-mile at a time, of course. There was racetrack drama because of various mild or more severe crashes involving models as diverse as Nissan's beloved old-school Z, Audi's R8, or the eternal Ford Mustang. The Mopar fans witnessed a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat post an all-new world record after it obliterated an entire pack of foes, and a 'sleeper' BMW is allegedly the quickest Bimmer in the world.

Exotics were also around, from 2,000+ and 3,000+ horsepower Dodge Viper and Audi R8 engaging in roll racing to Ford Mustangs enjoying a six-second festival of speed – nothing was missing from the program. Even the 'dearly departed' showed up on stage – for example, the now-extinct Audi TT RS owners were quick to punch above their weight against traditional supercars. And it's all thanks to coverage from the ImportRace channel on YouTube.

Not long ago, we saw a white Audi TT RS drag a McLaren 720S and a Porsche 911 at TX2K24 and easily stunning them into submission. But, as it turns out, that wasn't the only (feisty) TT RS on the premises. Instead, another German coupe – dressed in pink-orange attire – dared to oppose a set of radical contenders to glory, an R35 Nissan GT-R prepared by Jotech Motorsports and a McLaren 720S. The first race was supposed to put everything into the proper quarter-mile dragstrip perspective that night, but it seems the R35 Nissan GT-R was too impatient, and its driver missed the start – it won due to the 8.65s versus 9.09s pass, but the track's electronic lights awarded the victory to the little TT RS rascal.

Secondly, the quirky Audi TT RS faced off with one of the best exotics out there – McLaren's 720S. This time around, no one got the start wrong, and both shot out like two rockets side-by-side. In fact, they were a little too fast for the videographer's camera to keep them in focus, and the rest of the race turned out to be a blurry mess. Luckily, we did see the track lights award victory to the Audi, and the host was kind enough to give us the results: 8.92s versus 9.32s!

Now, just in case you feel this is too 'slow' for your quarter-mile dragstrip dreams, the second video embedded below comes from a channel dubbed 'Vehicle Virgins' and involves an insane matte black Nissan GT-R packing 3,500 horsepower and running a six-second pass during the TX2K24 finals! Cool, right? Oh, and in the final race, there's also a very quick Camaro, by the way.
