Audi TT Roadster Goes to the UK

Summer time is still some two months away, but manufacturers who offer open top vehicles are already caught in an aggressive offensive to make their models get the upper edge. Volvo already announced in the beginning of the month that its C70 Ice White model is going to the British Isles, so it was just about time for the competition to step in.

German manufacturer Audi is coming ashore with the TT Roadster, making it available for order as of know, with the first deliveries scheduled for April. The 1.8l TFSI petrol engine powered TT will have a starting price of 23,910 pounds.

The powerplant is linked to a six-speed manual transmission and delivers 160 horsepower and a peak torque of 250 Nm. The body of the TT, 58 percent made of aluminum, allows the engine to boost the car from naught to 62 mph in 7.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 139 mph (223 km/hour). The combined fuel consumption of the 1.8l TFSI stands at 40.9 mpg (6.9l/100 km) and it puts out 159g of CO2 for every kilometer in travels.

The Audi TT models can be further enhanced at extra cost by adding the Audi magnetic ride adaptive damping system.

Standard interior and infotainment features include electric windows, electronic climate control, Chorus CD audio system, and a Driver's Information System (DIS). The standard trim also includes 17 inch Y design alloy wheels and Tetrus cloth upholstered sports seats.

Since the TT's main function is to offer open top motoring, the powered soft top can be opened and closed in only 12 seconds, at speeds of up to 19 mph (30 km//hour).
