Since other car makers are already using virtual reality technologies on their driving simulators, why not use it to make customers feel as if they are test driving the vehicle they’re planning to buy. Audi just announced their intention to integrate a new innovative virtual reality headset in order to extend advisory service at their dealerships.
The Germans have showcased their plans at the Detroit International Auto Show, having Luca de Meo, member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at Audi AG, presenting the Audi VR experience. The Ingolstadt company claims that with the innovative technology, customers and prospective buyers experience the virtual world on a new level, in three dimensions, with all sound effects and almost life-like.

Potential buyers can virtually take a seat behind the wheel of their individually configured car or take a look in the trunk. A camera tracks the movements of the user’s head and the system adapts image displayed accordingly. Customers will be able to experience even the smaller details, such as colors, leathers, inlays as well as infotainment systems.

According to Audi’s press release you can consult below, the new sales tool will arrive at the first dealers by the end of this year, with particular focus on dynamic growth markets where high sales increase for Audi AG is being accompanied by expansion of the dealer capacity.

And to make things even closer to real life feeling, the VR experience is also equipped with high-end headphones by Bang & Olufsen. They transmit the full range of acoustic information, from the sound of the doors closing to the 14-channel sound of the Advanced Sound System in the Audi A8.
