What has long been rumored to be the revival A2 hatchback at the Paris Motor Show might turn out to be an SUV. Autocar has learned that Audi is going to preview an upcoming small SUV called the Crosslane Coupe Concept.
This will be a two-door model with a 2+2 seating configuration and a range-extended EV drivetrain. The wheels will be driven by a single 120 PS electric motor offering an all-electric range of 80 miles. This will be boosted by a three-cylinder 1.5-liter that won’t drive the wheels in any way.
One of our own previous reports suggested this SUV will be entering production within about two years, so in late 2014 or early 2015.
The Q2 will ride on a 2.5 meter wheelbase derived from the architecture of the Skoda Yeti. The base engine will likely be a 1.2 TFSI with 90 horsepower, followed by different tunes of the 1.4 TFSI from the A1. Diesel options will include 1.6 and 2.0 TDIs, but we don’t expect any hybrids.
